Hello, world. I’m MacDara Conroy, and this is my blog.

Weeknotes #475-476

Monday — Train is quick into town this morning. Getting home takes longer, however; these icy pavements are frustrating me no end.

Tuesday — I finally get around to watching Aguirre, Wrath of God only to find the DVR missed the last two minutes. Gah! Everything was building up to that moment! Also, putting on Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny right after wasn’t the best of moves.

Wednesday — Adventure afternoon: I take Grimmson out questing in WoW. It’s the first full day of Cataclysm proper, but no sign of any new races. Never mind; Grimmson’s levelling pretty fast at the moment which makes me happy. Was a good idea to upgrade to Burning Crusade, methinks.

Thursday/Friday — Ice out here is getting worse, not better – just about made it home alive! Friday’s spent working from home as a result. I’m drawing a blank on the rest.

Saturday/Sunday — The thaw finally reaches us, and we head off to the Blanch Centre for needed things. But the return journey takes forever, and standing out in the freezing fog chills us to the bone. By the time we get home I’m stiff and aching all over, and Bee is no better. I’m in bed by 9.30 and konked out shortly after. We miss John’s birthday party too, and I feel horrible about that.

Sunday morning, awake after 11 hours’ sleep and still feeling no better. Only thing I can do is try to keep warm. By 4pm I’m more alive and later have the wherewithal to make some restorative sweet potato soup. I needed that.

Monday/Tuesday — The pre-Xmas production cycle winds to a close, and doesn’t stress me out too much. On Tuesday evening I pop round to John’s to wish him a belated happy birthday and shoot the breeze. He’s good people.

Wednesday — Lunchtime meeting in Dun Laoghaire. The bus journey is a cold one, and it’s dank and misty out by the sea, but soup and a scone warms me up. Back into town after for a haircut (NB must schedule these better; can’t remember my last one).

Thursday — Bee and I finally check out the Game On exhibition at the Ambassador. It’s basically a giant arcade with every machine set on free play, and it’s great stuff – worth a visit simply get up close with the classics, but also to see machines that were never released over here like the PC Engine. I can’t wait to go back for the train simulator, even though it’s all in Japanese.

Friday — Looks like I’m on holiday earlier than expected. Also, what’s all this about Delicious? Everybody’s gone where now? But what about my network? I feel a blog post coming on…

Saturday/Sunday — Easy weekend. Among other things, I watch The Expendables (not half as bad as it’s made out to be, really) and hit up the auction house in WoW to make some more gold. Gold!

I also begin the long process of changing all my passwords to ones I’ll have no hope of remembering without the help of software. Yes, I got a little spooked by the Gawker security breach, even though I’ve never had a Gawker account. In any case it’s good practice.

No achievements unlocked this time. Any gains were offset by the loss of Captain Beefheart. He was fast ‘n bulbous. Tight, also.
