Hello, world. I’m MacDara Conroy, and this is my blog.

Weeknotes #701-702

Bit of a blur, the past fortnight.

I spent a few afternoons last week putting together this year’s website awards feature for Afloat magazine; not sure when that’s getting published as yet. Took a bit longer than expected to write as I developed a head cold around the same time, and had to fight through the fog of that to get anything done. Obviously I was useless for much of the rest of the time. I watched a lot of TV and WWE Network, and finished a couple of books while my head was clear enough to handle it.

I also got my bicycle serviced a week ago — good job, too, as the crankshaft part of the bottom bracket was completely worn (so that’s why my pedals were wobbling). And after replacing the pedals themselves this afternoon (the left one was making a weird cracking sound, probably the bearings gone) it feels like I’m riding a whole new bike. I can change my gears again! And cycle up hills! (That is, if my gammy right knee allows.) Hopefully my ride will stay that way till I get myself an actual new bicycle at the end of the year. (I’ve already started window shopping; nothing fancy, a cheap and cheerful hybrid will suit me just fine.)

What else, what else? One press screening this week, and the review for that pretty much done, though I’m embargoed till tomorrow and won’t actually be filing it till next week, just before the release date. I made some notes for a future release review as well, but that can wait another few weeks. In the meantime, I’ve got some listening to do — and a couple more promised reviews to scribble.
