Hello, world. I’m MacDara Conroy, and this is my blog.

I made a radio show

Or a podcast. Or a mix. Whatever! It’s called Enlarged Heart Radio, and the first episode went up at the weekend.

It’s just a selection of the weird music I like; the kind of stuff I would play if I actually had my own radio show. Expect the next edition nearer the end of January, though I’ve already started picking tunes. Also, you get to hear my voice in the links. I wrote a script for them and all. If I learned anything from the broadcasting course in my journalism MA, it was that.

Why am I doing this? Well, my friend Jamie recently launched his own one, The Urban Recluse Radio Hour, something he said he’s been planning for a while: a radio show in the mould of John Peel and the old Xfm pirate station (the Irish one, the one where the lads from The Redneck Manifesto did a Sunday afternoon show, not the shite British one).

I listened to his first episode and enjoyed the eclectic mix, and thought to myself, why don’t I do something like that? So I did. Also, it’s something new to do for the new year, rather than resolving not to do something, if you get me.

Anyway, hope you like it.
