A Scene from My Life As A Movie

Take one: I awake this freezing cold morning at 7:30am and promptly fall back asleep for two more hours. I just had to stay up last night to see Mallrats, didn’t I?

Take two: I force myself out of bed around 10:30am, once I’ve warmed up enough to be mobile. Then I remember yesterday’s worries, and begin fretting again. I try to occupy myself with newspapers and television, but nothing can distract me. Even the good (no, excellent) news I receive about two reviews I’ve written getting published doesn’t lift my spirits as it otherwise undoubtedly would. Nothing can shake the quivering feeling in my stomach.

Nothing, that is, until just after noon, when my cellphone makes that distinctive bleeping sound and there it is, a text message from her, and suddenly everything seems brighter, and all is right in the universe.
