Good News For Once
I’ve been a busy bee over the last fortnight or so, which is why I’ve been posting photographs rather than writing here, because such writing takes effort that I haven’t had time for. But now that I have a chance to breathe a little, it’s time I filled you in, dear reader, on what’s been happening in my world as of late.
First of all, on June 17th I returned to the ranks of the employed — and my former employer. To cut a long story short, I went in to buy a blank video tape, and walked out with a job. Months of searching in vain for work, and it happens just like that; bloody typical!
But anyway. I’m on a part-time contract, doing extra shifts here and there, which is fine by me. Morale is higher, now that the store is under new management, so the atmosphere is less stressful. And the wages are even better now, so financially I should be in good stead for the next bit of news I’d like to share.
Remember that interview I had last month? Well, the day after my interview at UCD Library last week (which I won’t go into; suffice to say it was disappointing), I finally got a letter from DIT. I had to rub my eyes when I read it. I was offered a place.
I was offered a place! I’m on the course! That’s right, in September I start my Masters course in journalism at DIT. And you know what? Even though I’ve accepted the offer and paid the deposit and whatnot, it still feels like a dream. I can’t believe I actually did it. I probably won’t until the end of the summer.
Until then, I’ll keep pinching myself.
