Macrolog
Busy Busy Busy
I’m still here, people. I’m just really busy.
Last week it was preparing the audio interview I recorded in December for my broadcasting project. The week before it was recreating the front page of The Guardian for my QuarkXpress assignment. This week it’s preparing my dissertation proposal — tentatively focused on the convergence of weblogs and journalism in the sphere of new media (indeed!) — and brushing up on my shorthand, which I haven’t looked at since the last class, almost six weeks ago.
Like I said, really busy.
And yeah, that’s right, I said busy, not lazy. A new one for me, you’d think. And it’s the good kind of busy, too. The motivating kind, the kind I actually enjoy. Trust me, I wouldn’t have dragged myself out of bed before sunrise for three days straight last week to work on editing and mixing that interview if I wasn’t having a whole lot of fun doing it.
That’s not to say I don’t have fun doing this too, but when up against the unbeatable team of college assignments and spending time with Benitha (who’s busy herself right now with the new academic year in Pretoria), writing and posting here comes a distant third.
Still, a bronze medal is better than nothing.
