Scientists may have found what makes a tune catchy, after locating the brain area where a song’s “hook” gets caught
Whenever I get a bad tune stuck in my head, I use Steve Albini’s advice: just play Tina Turner’s ‘Private Dancer’ in your head, and all will be well again. (It’s the utter shapelessness of the song that makes it work. Or something.)
