Rock Paper Scissors, times 25
This one’s for Markham. As if 15 times wasn’t enough for you. Fucking hell! Permalink   ·

Van Morrison’s Contractual Obligation Record
This is great stuff, much better than the music he’s famous for. If only Van the Man had continued along the Wesley Willis route… Permalink   ·

Lifehacker’s guide to weblog comments
All seems pretty sensible to me. Permalink   ·

Blue Velvet, analysed frame-by-frame [c/o del.icio.us/kfan]
Check in again in a couple of years when it gets to the scary parts. Permalink   ·

The A.V. Club interviews Bob Mould
He seems like a cool guy and all, but he really doesn’t think he was as much an asshole as Grant and Greg, does he? Permalink   ·

Weapons witnesses ‘IRA-nominated’, says Ian Paisley
He could be telling the truth, but I don’t believe anything that Paisley says. He’s the perpetual boy who cried wolf. Permalink   ·

Bulky Jacket Syndrome
I love how any pretense to reasoned discussion is lost to worthless namecalling after just a few comments. (See also the Guardian article this refers to.) Permalink   ·

600 barrels of loot found on Crusoe island
There be treasure! Just a shame, says I, that it’s a week too late for Talk Like a Pirate Day. Yarrr. Permalink   ·

“Make a blank valuable by putting it in an exquisite frame.” Ahem. Permalink   ·

Pitchfork interviews Boards of Canada
I had no idea they were brothers. But it seems obvious now. Permalink   ·

The Funny Pages [c/o kottke.org]
The NYT cashes in on the vogue for literary comics with their new section. But it’s a good thing. Permalink   ·

Hospital shock for SA’s minister
Yeah, ‘cause hospitals never have queues. I wonder if she handed out garlic and beetroot. Permalink   ·

Crime in South Africa Grows More Vicious
And just when I’ve gone and booked my flights and all! Permalink   ·

Kenny’s Bookshop closes its doors [c/o Slugger O’Toole]
A real shame. I went there last January with Benitha; it’s a fine establishment. We need more places like this, not fewer. Permalink   ·

Paul Auster: The Definitive Website
Plus more Auster goodness linked by thoughtwax. Permalink   ·

100 Most Often Misspelled Words

New-look Guardian unveiled
There’s a PDF of the front page here. Hmm. I don’t know. The blue strap masthead seems a bit too close to the relaunched Independent for my linking. And typographically? It was close to perfection anyway; I don’t see why they had to go and mess with it. Strikes me as a step backwards on first impression. What do you think? Permalink | 4 Comments   ·
